Jo & Stuart’s Wedding Cooling Castle Rochester

Hi everyone, I have great pleasure in showing the wedding of the wonderful Jo & Stuart, you’ll probably remember them from an earlier blog of their engagement shoot earlier this year. An amazing couple who had an amazing day. Cooling Castle is a wonderful venue that holds special meaning for me as it is in my home town. Always a pleasure to be there.

Jo and Stuart were lucky to get summer weather in February. The only down side is that Jo didn’t get to wear her beautiful winter fur. Something I’m sure she was happy to substitute for glorious weather.

Amiee & Mark Wedding in Maidstone

Now this wedding I am really pleased to bring you as originally the couple didn’t want any of their shots posted. That was until they saw their album. Now just in-case they agreed to it whilst in the euphoria of seeing there lovely pictures in a beautiful  Queensberry album. I decided to wait six months and ask again before blogging it. When I asked again I was met with the typical Amiee response “I said you could”! Now the thing you have to love about Amiee is she says it just how she sees it (as only someone with a Yorkshire man as a father can).

I met Aimee and Mark in the early part of 2011 at a Wedding Fayre in Dartford. I asked them if they wanted a quote and they wasn’t over interested. Which happens often as you can sometime feel like your in a merry-go-round of people trying to sell you something and everyone appearing fake. Some of us are generally nice guys. What broke the ice with Mark and Amiee was the fact that I asked there opinion on the baby push-chair they were using for there little boy Robert. As I wanted to know as my wife Rachel was quite pregnant at the time and we where in the push-chair baby nightmare i.e. not having a clue and us being on our own merry-go-round. So in the end they took a quote for their big day.

Two weeks later I sent a follow up email as I quite often do after I’ve given out a quote. Aimee actually responded in typical Aimee style “Firstly I thought you were quite expensive, then I shopped around and considering the quality of your work I realised you are not” or words to that affect and that she would let me know.

Time passed and I heard no more from Aimee. Now considering Amiee and Mark helped me decided which Pram/ Pushchair to get. It was a very strange coincidence that Aimee actually rang me whilst Rachel was in labour and left a message on my mobile, During a break in the labour and before you all have ago at me.  Rachel told me to. I actually called Amiee back. Now if memory serves me correctly Amiee told me off for calling her. But we did arrange to meet the following weekend.

My son Eli was a week old when I went and saw Aimee and Mark. Now trying to be as professional as possible with regard to their needs on their wedding day, talk soon turned to babies. Now Rachel and I had been parents for 7days. Eli wasn’t feeding at all well. The midwives where less than helpful. Lets not even mention the doctors. Now due to Eli being a rather large baby he needed formula from birth. But as I’ve said we couldn’t get him to have enough. He would fall asleep on the bottle with 3/4 of the amount left. We were stressed. I told Mark this and he calmly looked at me and said “get a bigger teat size, then he will finish the bottle”. And he was right. I think its fair to say that I hit it off with these two. They booked me for their wedding that week.

We quickly followed up that meeting with a pre-wedding shoot.Which was shot at Mark’s Mum & Step Fathers house.

And then came their big day.

I popped into Mark’s to take a few quick shots of him and the best man. Then met Aimee at the venue. The venue was a lovely little place in Maidstone, Kent. Now the preparation was going smoothly, but Aimee was getting a bit stressed as the tables in the marque hadn’t been set and was informed that they would be set up at a certain time which is the time she was actually getting married. Which in its self wouldn’t be a issue but during their vows Aime & Mark would have had a direct view of people setting up the room for their reception. And some other stuff which would be a bit unsettling for any bride and quite frankly is not something they should have to think about. At one point the bridesmaid and I where nearly setting the tables ourselves. Thankfully though everything came together.

Aimee and Mark had a lovely touching ceremony and enjoyed the rest of their day, which they shared with there beautiful little boy Robert a.k.a Bertie. This couple really know how to enjoy each others company. For the first time at a wedding I saw a bride and groom hula hoop. I might even post one of those pictures one of these days.

Until next time guys

Mel & Sean’s Wedding at Down hall Hertfordshire

Mel & Sean where married in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and St Joseph in Ware and later had there reception at the lovely Down Hall in Hertfordshire.

It was lovely to witness Mel’s nerves building up in the morning.  One of the reasons she states she booked me is because she thinks I’m incredible laid back and apparently I help her remain calm. So not just a photographer but a human Valium as well. Maybe I should charge more??! Seriously though it is nice that my personality could have a positive effect on Mel and Hopefully some of my other brides. And lets not forget the grooms. But mostly the bar before the ceremony helps the groom!

As you can see Sean was incredibly calm

A lovely couple, a lovely family, a lovely Church and a lovely reception venue. All in all an amazing day.

Jo & Stuart’s Pre-Wedding Shoot

A couple of weeks ago, I went back to my home town to do a pre-wedding shoot of a old friend Jo. Jo and Stuart are getting married at the end of February.
I’ve known Jo for about 15years. We sadly lost contact for many years though. But thanks to the joys of Facebook became reacquainted, so to speak i.e. we could few each others pages. I saw that Jo had set a date and a venue for her big day and I jokingly stated “I know an excellent photographer”. Well she did contact me. But it wasn’t as easy as that to get the job, oh no. I still had to go through all the pitching and then she made me wait 3 weeks for an answer. It was nice to do it properly and it also meant I got to meet Stuart as well, who seems a really cool guy.

I really am glad that I am Jo & Stuart’s Wedding Photographer, as I know it will be an amazing day. A truly lovely couple with a bright future ahead of them.

Keep an eye out for their big day.

Julie & Micks wedding King Charles hotel-Gillingham Kent

This wedding in September of this year was very very close to my heart as it was the wedding of Mick to Julie a.k.a Mum.

Earlier this year my Mum and Stepfather informed me that they were planning on marrying this year. Obviously Rachel and I were over the moon. Then the craziness started. Planning the date. May was a no no as Rachel was due with Eli their first grandchild on 13th May which is also Mick’s birthday. So Mum asked “what about June”? “Sorry mum booked”, was my reply. Mum “July”? “Sory booked”, “August”? I respond giving a glimpse of hope “I think I free the last Saturday in August”, Mum’s excited “Great I’ll…..”. I interrupt “no sorry I’m wrong booked”. Mum responds “Okay September”? Finally I say “Yeah I’ve got two Saturdays free in September”. Mum finally thinks we got somewhere “Great she says what Saturdays”? The realisation of mu uselessness “Don’t know mum I’ll check the diary and get back to you”. In the end my Mum rang me whilst she was booking the venue ” they have the 3rd or the 10th September free, which one can I get married on son”? I knew I had a booking on either the 3rd or the 10th September but for the life of me didn’t know which. In the end Rachel was called and as always saved the day and I’m free on the 3rd. Obviously I had to shoot their wedding after all the hassle I caused. Who would have a son as a wedding photographer?

Mum asked Rachel to be her maid of honor. And Mick asked me to be his best man. I as honored nervous though as I knew that being the best man and the photographer was a big enough tasks separately let along together.

Mum got ready at my adoptive Grandfathers house. Her make up was done by my amazing wife Rachel

My adopted Grandfather Brian and Mum

I’ve never seen Mick so nervous

My younger cousin is studying A Level photography, good image not sure of her subject matter though? Different to include a picture of myself in the blog

The weather was amazing and everyone had a lovely day. Rachel and I was exhausted by the finish though. But we were made up that there day was perfect

To Mum and Mick we hope you like your pictures? We love you and wish you all the happiness for the future. Thank you letting us be part of your big day. Rachel and Aaron xxxx

Shelley & Dan’s wedding at Ashwells in Essex

Shelley & Dan were married at Ashwells in Brentwood Essex.

I meet Shelley in March 2010 at a wedding fayre actually at Ashwells, It was clear from the start that Shelley was a girl that knew what she wanted. Her precise words to me were “I love your work and if you do a digital bound album, I’ll book you”.

They were married outside in the grounds of Ashwells

There was many tears on the day especially by Jade, Shelley’s daughter and little Dan, Shelley’s younger brother

I must say that Dan is by far the least nervous groom that I have meet. He seemed to take everything in his stride. Including the suit company they were hiring from getting there orders totally wrong and meaning they had 24hours to source new suits from a alternative supplier.

I was aware that Shelley is quite creative. But I had no idea on just how creative she was. But was pleasantly blown away when there first dance song was recorded by her.

The lovely Charlotte and Glenn were married on 16th July 2011 at the beautiful Maidens Barn in Essex. Both kept in amazing spirit considering the heavens decided to open and rain literally all day.
